How can you best prepare for your next interview?

Whether you’re having lots of interviews, or getting ready for your first interview in a long time, it’s vital that you put the time in to prepare properly to make a good impression. Success comes from doing the work in advance of your interview – here’s our top tips:

1. Know the Company: Research their mission, values, and recent news. Understanding the company culture, recent projects, and industry trends will not only show that you’re genuinely interested but will also help you tailor your responses to align with their needs and values.

2. Understand the Role: Go beyond the job description – delve into the responsibilities, required skills, and how your past experiences and unique skill set can contribute to the company’s success. Think about how you can bring value to the role and be prepared to articulate this clearly.

3. Prepare Your Stories: Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure and highlight your achievements and problem-solving abilities. Have several stories ready that demonstrate your skills, initiatives, and accomplishments. Tailor these examples to reflect the key competencies needed for the role you are applying for.

4. Practice Common Questions: Be ready for questions like “Tell me about yourself” and “What are your strengths and weaknesses?” as well as behavioural and situational questions. Practice your responses out loud to build confidence and ensure your answers are clear and concise.

5. Ask Questions: Prepare insightful questions for your interviewer about the company’s goals, challenges, team structure, and what success looks like in the role. Asking thoughtful questions demonstrates your enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication to finding the right fit for both you and the company.

1. Functional Strength Training: Incorporate exercises like squats and deadlifts to build strength in your legs and lower back, aiding in lifting heavy items.

2. Stretching: Regular stretching routines improve flexibility and reduce the risk of strains and sprains. Focus on hamstrings, lower back, and shoulders.

3. Cardiovascular Workouts: Boost your stamina with cardio activities such as brisk walking, jogging, or cycling. This helps with endurance needed for long shifts.

4. Core Exercises: Planks and abdominal workouts can strengthen your core, providing better balance and reducing the risk of back injuries.
