How to avoid burnout – Look after your mental health

In today’s busy working environment, avoiding burnout is hugely important and must be taken seriously. On October 10 we all observed World Mental Health Day, an important reminder of why we need to make our mental health a top priority.

First things first; are you approaching burnout? It sometimes can be hard to notice when you’re in a difficult situation and facing burnout. Are you finding work uninteresting, stressful and struggling to sleep? Do you feel negative or critical? Are you making unhealthy lifestyle choices? Chances are you are starting to struggle with burnout.

It’s important you take steps to avoid burnout –

  1. Keep you life and work separate. Make plans with friends and family, keeping your life and work apart. By taking time for yourself you’ll find yourself more refreshed at work.
  2. Find a hobby. Hobbies will re-energise you – find something you can get involved in, away from the 9-5!
  3. Set your work priorities for each day. The work never “finishes” – Think about what is possible for you to achieve each day and prioritise.

Put yourself first and look after yourself – and look out for your colleagues too!

Why Autumn is a Good Time for Job Searching

Autumn is not only a season of change in nature but also a perfect time for personal and professional new beginnings. If you’re contemplating a career move, autumn may just be the ideal season. Various factors such as market dynamics, company budgets, and personal motivation make autumn an excellent time for job searching.

As summer winds down, many companies ramp up their hiring processes. The summer months often bring a lull in hiring due to holidays and vacations, but come autumn, businesses are back in full swing. According to various recruitment studies, job postings see a noticeable increase in autumn, making it an opportune time to find new opportunities.

Another significant factor is the utilisation of end-of-year budgets. Organisations frequently assess their financial standing in the final quarter and identify remaining budget allocations that need to be utilised. This often results in a flurry of job openings as departments seek to optimise their spending.

One of the lesser-known advantages of job searching in autumn is the reduced competition. Many people wait until the new year or spring to start their job search, assuming those periods offer more opportunities. However, this common perception leaves autumn with fewer job seekers, making it easier for you to stand out and secure interviews.

Securing a job before the festive season can bring financial stability and peace of mind. Knowing that you have a steady income can allow you to enjoy the holidays without the looming stress of job searching.

Take advantage of the autumn season and start your job search now! For more information about our latest vacancies, or to find out how Flexistaff can support your business, contact us on 0844 556 2916 or [email protected].
