In today’s busy working environment, avoiding burnout is hugely important and must be taken seriously. On October 10 we all observed World Mental Health Day, an important reminder of why we need to make our mental health a top priority.
First things first; are you approaching burnout? It sometimes can be hard to notice when you’re in a difficult situation and facing burnout. Are you finding work uninteresting, stressful and struggling to sleep? Do you feel negative or critical? Are you making unhealthy lifestyle choices? Chances are you are starting to struggle with burnout.
It’s important you take steps to avoid burnout –
- Keep you life and work separate. Make plans with friends and family, keeping your life and work apart. By taking time for yourself you’ll find yourself more refreshed at work.
- Find a hobby. Hobbies will re-energise you – find something you can get involved in, away from the 9-5!
- Set your work priorities for each day. The work never “finishes” – Think about what is possible for you to achieve each day and prioritise.
Put yourself first and look after yourself – and look out for your colleagues too!
