Making the most of furlough
Furlough is something that none of us had really heard of before the coronavirus pandemic. A measure put in place by the government to save thousands of jobs, it’s a well-recognised term and is to stay a firm fixture of our lives at least until October when the scheme will end. If you’re on furlough from work, there’s a number of fantastic ways you can make the most of your time – here’s a few tips.
Think about your own personal development. Are you where you want to be in your career? How could you develop your skills as a professional and what do you need to progress your career? Take some time out to take stock.
Make the most of the time for training. It may be your employer is able to offer you access to online training, or alternatively there are many organisations offering free training and courses online – use your time to upskill and learn new things!
Get networking online. As we’re no longer able to meet in person, many groups and organisations are moving their events and networking opportunities online – attending online events and sessions gives you an opportunity to meet new people and learn more.
And make some time to look after yourself too!
